About Mayfield

This is a tranquil, historic village lying close to the beautiful River Rother. The village stands on a ridge in a lovely rural location with panoramic views over the valley.

Visitors will find much of interest in the village, it has four churches, three pubs and several pleasant shops. Opposite Middle House of 1576, stands the church dedicated to St.Dunstan, this dates back to the 13th century.

The village offers attractive walks, particularly the walk from the High Street through riverside scenery to the picturesque hamlet of Broadoak.

This idyllic location is ideal for touring the Sussex Heritage Coast, the High Weald and for visiting Glyndebourne, Bateman's, Scotney Castle, Sissinghurst and Penshurst. It offers whole host of other pleasures including near-by Bewl Water which is set in pretty countryside and offers opportunities for fly-fishing and boating.

Mayfield can be found between Heathfield and Wadehurst.
