I'm reading explosive incident, rather than explosion. I'm wondering if this could be something like a plane crash, or a fight, rather than an actual explosion ?

Only saxophone player I know really well is Clarence Clemons and he died as result of a heart attack. Need to have a look into this a bit deeper.

It is an interesting one Ruth. If all had gone to plan a world record would have been set.

Astronaut Ronald McNair. He was  was supposed to take part in a concert through a live feed from the space shuttle Challenger by playing the first original piece of music to have been recorded in space but the space shuttle disintegrated after takeoff.

And right it is ! Well done Ken.

Additionally the concert on 5th April 1986 was " Rendez-vous  Houston " by Jean Michel Jarre and as usual for JMJ it was large !! The concert had an audience of about one and a half million with giant projections of images onto the high rise builings of the Houston skyline and was of such magnitude that a major highway nearby came to a halt as drivers stopped to see the spectacle and the police had to close the road adding to the people watching . The part that Ron was to have played from space was performed by Kirk Whalum and if I remember correctly he performed " Ron's Piece " as it is known on the track list of the album from atop of one of those skyscrapers- a tribute in itself.
