I am a avid bird watcher.

I have been seriously bird watching since I was 21, so a few years now (stop it, Ron!). I got really good and then I moved to America and had to start all over again with new birds.

Mainly photography and anything to do with p[hotography but mostly for pleasure now, although trying to rekindle a bit of sideline work. Music of course, always have a cd on or playing off the pc when sorting photos and POEsting. DIY and decorating as and when required. Pre computer would have been doing photographs in a makeshift darkroom in either bathroom, handy for running water or spare room, with a bucket of water. Music on most of the time then unless watching video (remember them?????) Like to get oit in the counrty as and when the wife gets a saturday or sunday off work.

All right James, same as you I like music but I guess you have already worked out my music of choice is rock ( Planet Rock on the Hi Fi at work ) and also the music of Tangerine Dream. For quite a long time I belonged to the BCSS ( cactus and succulent society), I have a few plants still in a small cool greenhouse and a collection of more tender plants in both windows at the shop ( they do attract interest in the High Street). As I said above about the Cornish Industrial Archeaology I have been a member of the Trevithick Society since the mid 1990s.

This year I have got a push bike so a trip out for a bit of exercise ( as if 10/11 hours a day up and down stairs and on feet is not enough) plus it give a chance to give the cameras an outing.

Plus must not forget all that is done with wife and daughter, do pretty much most things together .

And before the computer? Well that time is a bit of a blank as time was taken up with issues with our daughters disabilites hobies and pastimes taking a bit of a back seat.

              That ok James?

Nice thread you started James.  Interesting!  Obviously one of the common denominators must be photography and/or love of England!!

I love photography and was sad I couldn't contribute pictures to POE, but have now found Flickr and enjoy taking shots to improve my techniques and record bits of South Africa. A better camera is on my Christmas shopping list!! lol.

I am an avid reader, never without a book on the go, but having said that I have barely read a page since we sold the house, gradually getting back to normal though!!

One of my passions was gardening but I'm getting a bit passed it now, so have decided to try and have some beautiful pots, especially now we are staying in a rented house!!

I can't get to any of my arts and crafts stuff at the moment (too many boxes and nowhere to put the contents), but that is gradually being sorted out.  Might have to get some alternative cupboards for storage!

About the only thing I do on the computer is to visit POE and Flickr.  I think we have had computers at home since the first Sinclairs came out - going on 30 years I guess!!

I think that is enough for now - but you have probably guessed I keep pretty busy and am rarely ever bored!!

Most of my hobbies have become a way of life now...top is the bike (of course), out on it nearly every weekend, in the 7 years we have had this one we have done nearly 50.000 miles. Although the bike thing started a long long time ago, I really got passionate when I was handed boxes and boxes of bike bits, a frame and tank and challenged to re-build a Triumph Trident, that was in the 70's, I did it and sold it on to buy a Norton, the rest is history.

I love reading, having worked in a bookshop for 10 years, it was my dream job. Music too,i'll listen to most music but top is heavy rock, and classical. I also listen to the drammatised CD's like Agatha Christie's Poirot and Miss Marple, Francis Durbridge Paul Temple, great to listen to while cooking.

Photography of course, never leave home without the camera, have always loved taking photo's of everything and anything, before computers and digital camera's it was printed photo's of course, came across a chest full while clearing out the loft, don't want to part with them, but they are getting very aged, anyone got ideas on how to get them onto computer and then disc, if possible.

I make cards and have a couple of outlets that have them from me, lucky enough to have a spare room that I have taken as a craft room, it is full to the rafters of stuff!

As a member of the Hedgehog preservation society I take in orphaned and underweight juveniles to over winter them and feed them up to release in the spring, the reward is to see them released back into the wild.

This is why I work part-time, as there aren't enough hours in the day, sometimes I meet myself coming back..Laughing.wouldn't have it any other way..
