Petrol prices here are falling daily (about time too!) where I go they're around 98p litre up to yesterday.Tesco's are probably cheaper but I would have to use half a litre just to get to the nearest one here! lol  I see in Oz its $1.33aud (approx 58p) on average and may fall to around $1aud, I think i'll move down there lol it's half the price it is here.

Asda at Wheatley were doing 95p per litre last week Lyn, but last week means it could have changed yet again, several times in fact! Lets face it were all still being ripped off when you consider the profits made by the Oil Companies and the tax element applied by this 'Darling' of a Government!

I agree Andy, they encouraged us to go to diesel for economy and when we get there they hike the price because it's popular! They really have got us all by the preverbials!

'WE'RE FED UP'

5/11/2008 11:30:00 AM
LOCAL motorists have shown they are fed up with the region's high petrol prices by flocking to an independent service station offering unleaded fuel for less than $1.

Motorists started queuing alongside the Princes Highway in Ulladulla from 4pm last Wednesday after Ulladulla Motors announced that it would be selling unleaded fuel for 95.9 centres a litre between 5pm and 9pm.

By the time 5pm came around, north-bound traffic was at a standstill and police stepped in.

Simon Chapman from Ulladulla Motors said he made the decision to offer discounted fuel because "everybody's fed up with the big companies ruling the roost".

He said local motorists had been "paying through their nose" for fuel over the past few years but no-one was willing to do anything about it.

He said the major fuel companies were pocketing enormous profits while the Federal Government was also enjoying a huge slice of the pie through fuel excise and GST.

He believes 95.9 cents is about what people should be paying for a litre of unleaded fuel and said there was no reason why people in Ulladulla should be paying more than anyone else.

Regional areas are paying a lot more than the Sydney area Lyn, at a local service station it was $1-42.9c last week.

US gallon = 3.78litres

UK gallon =  4.55litres

so if its $2 roughly a US gallon  then $2 divided by 3.78 = $O.529 litre???

If I have my maths right I think we in the UK should emigrate LOL

LOL, it's true Lyn. Every time I want to complain about fuel prices I think of how much it is in Britain and the rest of Europe and I count my blessings!
