About Winsford

This is a small town lying on the River Weaver, it was once important for the production of salt, it also serves as a residential region for people working in Manchester or Liverpool.

Winsford is mostly known for the two impressive War Memorials dominating its modern town centre, these are to those who lost their lives in the two World War's of the last century, and to those who fell in the Boer War. The one commemorating the Boer War is of a soldier standing on a large white plinth, the other is a lofty white stone column with panels of bronze, both are well worth seeing.

The countryside around the town is delightful, it encompasses the beautiful Weaver valley and the landscape of the Shropshire Union Canal, both give scope for glorious country walks, with the canal offering the opportunity for boating and watching the wildlife of the region.

Winsford has pleasant shopping facilities, good pubs, hotels and restaurants. It affords easy access to Oulton Park and to the picturesque Delamere Forest Park.

The town of Congleton is just a short distance away, as is Northwich, both Manchester and Liverpool are at further distance.
