Having had the pleasure of being a "soccer mom", I have to say I love watching a match.  I like to annoy my male friends who are addicted to American football by calling soccer "real" football.  My 20-something year old son and daughter both played soccer from the time they were 5 or 6 years old through high school.  It was amazing to watch their individual skills develop from nothing to accomplished players.  There is a lot of skill and finesse involved, as well as endurance.  We had the pleasure of watching (at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC) the very first home game of the then-new DC United.  And they won!  What a treat!

Hi Mick, you can't beat a good game of football (soccer)
I've been to a few lower league games. Not quite as low as Scarborough mind you Wink but I've been to the Hawthorns and seen West Brom play, and also my own team Birmingham City when they were in the old second division under Barry Fry.
I still enjoy watching the odd televised game of footy when i can, but don't really follow it much except keeping tabs on the blues position now and then.
A belated but very warm welcome to the site by the way! Glad to see you're enjoying it. Smile
Thank you poe . The site is great fun indeed .

That must have been great fun Barbara . I've enjoyed watching  some MLS games on the box , though I have had to mute the commentators at times LOL .

One of my American-football-mad friends told me once that he never liked playing soccer because it made him angry when he kept getting kicked in the shins!  Hello, that's what shin guards are for!  Wink
