Happy 4th to all over there too!  Can I add my two cents worth, Ron?

What day did Independence actually happen?  From my understanding, the delegates from New York were dragging their heels and took their time beng convinced to sign up with the rest of their Colonial friends to make the big break away from England.

None the less, they got there in the end, then they were all happy Smile.

At least they didn't get stuck with the Hair Powder Tax !

Hi Paul - Happy 4th to you too.  It was all very gradual I think.  The 4th was just the beginning of the war for independence.  I'll let you know after I watch the miniseries John Adams on HBO. (It's on today, but I can't do TV for 8 hours). I had never heard of the hair powder tax, but maybe that's why the powdered wigs went away.  (At least over here, lol).
