Aye we had a few up here Mike--i went down when i was 15 --there was 9 pits going at the same time.

I'm from coal country too, James, northeastern Pennsylvania, anthracite.  Both grandfathers worked in the mines at some point.  They never called them pits here, but the pits near where I was born closed the same year I was born.

I think POE was having trouble with people linking from here to other sites.  I'm guessing they disabled that functionality.  Can probably see it by pasting into your browser.

Do they know for sure where they got the stone for all the fab minsters and cathedrals?  I'm guessing most of them were fairly local.
