About Alton Water Reservoir

Alton Water Reservoir, located near Manningtree in Suffolk, England, was created in the 1970s by damming the River Gipping to form a freshwater reservoir. Serving as a water supply source for the Ipswich area, the reservoir spans about 400 acres (160 hectares) with a maximum depth of approximately 30 meters, holding around 7,800 million liters of water.
