Ascott-under-Wychwood lies in the Evenlode Valley and is the smallest of the three Wychwood villages. Wychwood refers to the royal ancient forest of Wychwood where Tudor monarchs would go hunting. Ascott is Saxon for East Homestead.

Holy Trinity church was built in the 1200's. It had 5 bells until 1905 when a 6th bell was added to the tower.
