Oh, I forgot to say why I'm fascinated with England.  My first images of England were probably of Liverpool, because of the Beatles.  But every time I saw a picture of something over there, it was just fascinating.  I love scenery and I love history, so you get the whole package when you visit England.  I just hope I can keep up the visiting, at least every other year.  And now, I've met some really wonderful people from there, so there's even more of a draw.  And apart from the Anglophiles on this site, most Americans have a fascination with the British Isles.  The two times we've visited, when asked by friends and coworkers where we were going on vacation, and I'd say, "England and Ireland," the answer was always, without exception, "you're so lucky, I've always wanted to go there."  It's the garden spot of the planet really.

Has anyone read the book - The Anglo Files - A Field Guide to The British  (2008) - by Sarah Lyall?? Just happened to see it in  the library the other day. Have'nt started reading it yet, but seems very interesting and quite appropriate for POE site. It is about an American  who marries an Englishman and moves to the UK in the 1990's and chronicles her life in England.

Great pics of the classics.
