The first 5 books by Miss Graham became the first 5 TV episodes; the Midsomer Murders TV title being suggested by writer Anthony Horowitz.  The other 70-odd episodes have been written by other writers.

Her first Inspector Barnaby book, The Killings At Badgers Drift, is listed as one of the top 100 crime mystery novels of all time. Her version of him comes across very differently than how John Nettles developed the character.

LaughingI thought I would bring this older thread back to life and remark on Midsomer Murders, which I have only recently viewed. A few months back, I took out two MM episodes/season DVDs from my local library and viewed them. I loved it, and have now just about competed viewing the Seasons (21) that the library stocks.

For me, as an American, I get the sense that MM represents rural England in her modern, yet traditional, form.It all seems very "realistic", although, I have no actual point of reference. Watching the episodes seems like getting a personal tour of England's quaint, small towns, and sometimes the seashores, farmlands, woodlands, mountains and plains, as well.  Great stuff !

Hello, Ron. I have not been on this site since 2010. Not sure who posted that message.

Maybe it is a sign that I should get back on here. :-)
