Description

Starling at Crosby

The ubiquitous Starling is probably not the most popular bird here, but when looked at more closely, they do have beautiful plumage and are natural comics and mimic sounds. We used to have one who visited the garden and had mastered a near perfect phone ring. In vast numbers they provide a stunning view, sweeping at sunset to roost. Taken on Monday 17th March 2014 at Crosby, gazing up at me as I stepped out of the car.

The bird looks a little out of place on the stony ground, but it's nice how you've captured the iridescent colours on its feathers.

Thanks for the comment on my starling, I have had to back track to find yours as someone reckoned it might be yours. I reckon these guys stay a bit more local ! I must say your shot shows a lot more detail and colour than mine does , well done Rod.
