Another view of our old house (number 39, now called River Cottage) from the house next door (number 38). Both these houses were originally four cottages 36 and 38 being the house on the left and 37 and 39 the house on the right (where I grew up and later lived with my family). My father bought 36/38 and 37/39 in 1947 when a lot of the village properties were sold to pay off Lord Bath's death duties. He paid £125 for both properties!
