Description

Ante Library

The Ante Library is the smallest of seven libraries in the House, which contain 44000 books (one of the largest private collections in Europe). The Longleat libraries include many volumes which pre-date the building of the House. A book list dated 1577 in the Longleat archives itemises 85 books, nearly half of which are still in the collection.
