Over the Hills and Far Away
This is the outlook from Newlands Corner looking south, the light was against me so this is the best I managed today. The car park here is pretty large with a very good refreshment establishment, an information centre, mobility scooter hire (I am told ) , a wildlife station and great views. It is supposed to be one of the best spots in this area for stargazing with not perfect but as close as you will get for low light pollution in this neck of the world. AND apparently Newlands Corner was where Agatha Christie abandoned her car in December 1926. She disappeared and caused a major police hunt and was not found for a number of days. She did eventually turn up in Harrogate staying at a hotel under a different name ( that of her husbands lover ). More pictures of Newlands Corner by Vince Hawthorn...
