Fountains Abbey is a ruined Cistercian abbey near Ripon in North Yorkshire.The abbey was founded in 1132 and continued till 1539 when it fell victim to Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. The abbey is owned by the National Trust and is a very popular visitor attraction.
