It was sad to hear of the passing of Tom Finney. Tom was a great player for England and his beloved Preston North End. Now, it is rare for a truly great player to remain loyal to his local club, which is what Tom Finney did. He was, by all accounts a true gentleman. This statue, unveiled in 2004 was inspired by a press shot taken at Chelsea, during an away game for Finney's Preston North End in 1954. The pitch was covered in water following a shower and this well captures the action. It can be found outside Deepdale, Preston's ground in the shadow of the Sir Tom Finney Stand. A fitting tribute to a Preston legend. Picture taken 21st April 2010.
