The Outside Staircase was the Designer's attempt to make the house and garden feel as one area

The Earl hoped that occupants and guests alike would enjoy the gardens as much as the house interior, not surprisingly as huge expense and effort was put into creating them, with buildings such as the Palladian Bridge and the Ionic Temple, as well as many statues and sculptures placed around the grounds.
