Description

The Paragon, Blackheath

An archivist of a firm of architects in New York saw my photos of the Paragon at POE and wanted permission to publish one which is of a similar view to this photo. I offered to take some more for them and the result is that this photo (taken in January 2013) is to be published in the Autumn of 2013 in a book called "Paradise Planned: The Garden Suburb and the Modern City"

Its good to have your work acknowledged in this way. I have had a couple of requests for use of my pics. Even if you do not get any financial benefit, make sure you get them to acknowledge you as the photographer and PoE as the website.

I agree with Edward and suggest that the absolute minimum you should get is a full credit line under the image, possibly even including POE, but a firm of architects should be able to stump up some cash.....But at the end of the day you get a great feeling of achievement in that someone wants your work. Personally I would be inclined to push for some financial recompense as well a full credit line. If the image is for a book they will be buying a lot more images in. But very well done it is a great boost to you as a photographer.

Thanks Edward and John. I did ask for (and received) a modest fee. I have had a couple of photos published in magazines run by enthusiastic amateurs( Follies & The London Society's Journal) and I let them have the photos for a credit and a copy of the magazine. My credit in this book will be "Stephen, Pictures of England"
