Description

Rydal Water 3

Looking west along Rydal Water with Silver Howe in mid distance. You can just see orange and yellow on the very left which is workmen 'ruining' the nature of the walk alongside Rydal Water. What used to be a choice, depending on height of water, between a gentle scramble over a small rocky outcrop or a shallow paddle round the rock, is now being transformed into 10 ft path around the rocks. Another picture was taken later in the week so may appear in due course. I have not heard anyone yet who agrees with it but can only assume it has been done to make life easier for the Japanese tourists who like to walk round the area in their 'Sunday best' certainly not sensible fell clothing. 22-7-14

It is a great pic Dave but the story you tell with it is not. If folk come to the Lakes then they should see them in all their glory and not sanitised in any way.

Take your point there John and yes it would .... but the tracks either side of this relaid path by Rydal Water, and there are only two ways in, from Grasmere and Ambleside, are far from disabled friendly ... so I don't really know what the idea is and what future plans are...
