Highdown Hotel

Highdown Hotel has been so many things including believe it or not a nightclub which thankfully was short lived. It is now an impressive hotel with great service & wonderful views. It is right near car park for Highdown Hill & the Highdown Gardens so plenty of wondeful walks.

View from the top

Not far to go to the top. Isn't it annoying seeing others already there? The wind can catch you at this point some days but well worth the climb. You can take other less open paths to the top.

Great drop to bottom yet you see clearly paths other side, who tries to walk these? not me just standing near edge was enough for me. This is only danger on Highdown, rest is safe & fenced.

Dangers of Highdown

Dangers of Highdown

Highdown is a lovely place to walk with family & pets but this shows just one of the dangers. Such a steep drop with hardly any fencing so keep an eye on childrens while on top path. Many still love to go to edge & admire views.

Clearing showing hardly any fencing so be aware while with family. Still a lovely view for those who dare. Looking at this bare chalk pit it is hard to believe just below in an old disused chalk pit in 1910 the Sterns set up the wonderful Highdown Gardens which is said to have hardly any soil mainly chalk. To see the colour of display in these Gardens off car park on Highdown Hill is truely amazing.
