On the village green in Potterhanworth, 5 miles from Lincoln, stands a memorial bearing the inscription : To the Glory of God - This monument is placed here by the parishioners as a memorial to the brave men who, on land and sea, gave their lives for King and Country in the Great War 1914-1918. Their name liveth for evermore. There follows the names of 16 local men who lost their lives in the conflict.
