Description

The Obelisk

On the Welcombe Hills near Ingon,is this obelisk erected in 1876 as a memorial to a Mark Philips, a Manchester cotton manufacturer & politician who used his vast wealth to build the nearby Welcombe house ... now a hotel.Magnificent views over the Avon valley.
