Coalport Bridge
As the first crossing over the river Severn at Coalport, Coalport Bridge was initially built around 1780, based of two timber framed arches on stone abutments and a pier. It was however destroyed by major flooding in 1795 and therefore rebuilt in 1799 using a mixture of wood, brick and cast-iron parts, however by 1817 it was failing again, so it was decided to build the bridge again using only iron parts.
