Description

Gatehampton Viaduct, near Goring

The Gatehampton Viaduct carries the Great Western Railway (GWR) Main Line across the Thames near Goring, and is a fine example of early British railway bridge construction. It consists of two parallel bridges set closely together. The first bridge carries two tracks and was built by Brunel around 1840. The second bridge was built around 50 years later, adding two more tracks.

I like this. Railways are still a vital part of the country, and bridges are all so very different being full of character. The train completes it all. Nice one Edward.

Have to endorse what Rod has already said, interesting info as would not have known of the construction history. Of course it was required to wait for a train to complete the shot- nice one Edward.
