Wensleydale Railway

47715 is a class 47 locomotive, built by Brush Electrical Machines At Loughbrough for British Rail in 1966. Originally numbered D1945 she was delivered to Toton, where she worked until 1973, when she was transferred to Bristol Bath Road. Renumbered to 47502 in 1974 she remained in the west country until 1984 when she was transferred to Edinburgh Haymarket and rebuilt for Push-Pull operation, gaining the new number 47715. IN 1990 the moved to Old Oak Common, London and was re-painted in to Network SouthEast livery. She was withdrawn in 2001 but bought by Fragonset and named Poseidon in 2003. After a spell working for Cotswold Rail, she was preserved at the Wensleydale Railway in 2008, where she has been ever since. A popular loco, she was recently re-painted into NSE and new ‘Haymarket’ nameplates applied.
