New Brighton

New Brighton in the Wiirral may not be quite what the traditional Brighton of the South of England is, with its extravaganza of a Royal Pavilion, but what it does have is well worth sampling. More..

Aren't there often windy conditions in New Brighton. I've heard about the "forced indoors" holidays of old c. 1953.

Oh, meant to add that the holidays c. 1953 consisted of having afternoon tea and dancing until late evening with the sands blowing all day outside.

Being as it is on the mouth of the Mersey, wind can and often does blow in from the Irish Sea. There used to be a ballroom on the pier and that would have been a safe haven from the elements. There are lots of warm sunny wind free days as well.
