Description

Ruddy Turnstone, River Wall, South of Toxteth Dock.

I've never seen these birds before, and, after a trawl through books and the WWW, finally the mystery was solved. Spotted during a walk along the Mersey River Wall on 1st May 2015,just south of Toxteth Dock. There were quite a few of these attractive little chaps who seemed quite happy for me to get quite close as they enjoyed the sun and breeze.

Great detail and colouring. But from what I remember, the breeze by the docks can be quite bracing. No wonder he looks a little dejected.
