Description

Waiting. Lime Street, Liverpool.

I took this whilst having a quick cup of coffee in Lime Street Station, looking out onto the concourse of the Station. Like the young woman, I was also waiting, me for a couple of chums, off for a “lads day out” in Yorkshire, she I suspect had arrived on a train and was waiting for someone. I reached for the camera and hopefully captured the mood of the moment feeling that monochrome would suit the image. I’d like to think that she didn’t have to wait too long. I had taken my old Nikon D70 out for the day and “upped” the ISO to 400.

Interesting bit of street photography which captures the viewer's imagination. The young woman has her back to the photographer, so the shot has an anonymity which avoids the potential embarrassment of an 'in your face' shot, yet allows the viewer the freedom to share in her sense of waiting.

The world around us is full of colour, but taking it away can sometimes add appeal and creativity to a picture.

Absolutely superb piece of street photography which I feel is always best suited to B&W
