George's Dock Gate, Liverpool
These steps leading to the gate, mark the spot of the old tidal George's Dock built in 1771 (now long since filled in.) Still remaining are parts of the dock wall, which are in the basement of the nearby Cunard Building. I used these steps a lot in the period 1963 to1969 when as a clerk I went out to various offices on business, or perhaps lunchtime for some fresh air in the small Church gardens nearby.
