Description

Ashby Castle, Leicestershire.

This is a English Heritage site. Was an original manor house in the 12th century.It became Castle Status in the 15th century. A Royalist Stronghold during the Civil War. Picture showing part remains of the outer walled area of the Castle. In the foreground a part of the banking of the once surrounding moat.
