Description

Lady's Smock

Cardamine pratensis ... (Cuckoo Flower or Lady's Smock) also known as the May Flower, Meadowcress, Pigeon's Eye, Lucy Locket and Bittercress. The name Lady's Smock derives from Tudor times, because of the resemblance to the then common ladies smocks. In folklore it was said to be sacred to the fairies, and so was unlucky if brought indoors.
