Description

High Street

Arcaded properties over the High Street. These properties were built on the site of a Norman castle in a constricted space immediately to the north of the Cathedral grounds. They date from the 14th century and are said to have been built like this to ease pressure on the main street that was probably as congested a thoroughfare as it is today.
