Description

Lower Quay, Fareham

At the time of the Domesday Survey the hundred of Fareham consisted of Fareham only and it had probably been included in the grant of the latter to the see of Winchester about the ninth century. In 1284 the King, probably as the result of a suit of which however no record can be found, gave up to John bishop of Winchester and his successors, all his right in the hundred of Fareham.
