Patrick, whereabouts is this bridge as I walk the canal footpath on a regular basis and have never seen the bridge you describe as near to the at Portland basin are you sure you haven't labelled the picture incorrectly?

Hi John, If you walk 0.3 of a mile up the Peak Forest canal you will find this lift bridge. It is called the Dunkinfield Lift Bridge. Here is a link http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/peak/pf4.htm

Thank you Patrick - No offence intended! I was just thinking Ashton Canal (with you saying your boat was moored up on it) - always intended to venture along the PF Canal - will definitely do so now both winter and summer to experience the changing scene. Thank you for bringing a scene to my attention that previously I have been 'blind' to.

Hi, Yes I can see I should have put Peak Forest and not Ashton. Anyway as you say it will be a new and interesting walk....... Good luck.
