Belle Tout lighthouse on the cliff top at Birling Gap

Belle Tout lighthouse is famous for having been moved back from the cliff edge to stop it falling into the sea as the cliff erodes. It is a landmark for miles around, but does not quite live up to its promise when seen close up. The tower is attractive but the living accommodation is not so good to look at. Here it is at sunset, when some of the less appealing features weren't so obvious.
