Description

Belle Tout lighthouse at Birling Gap, East Sussex

Belle Tout Lighthouse is famous for having been moved back from the cliff edge to prevent it falling into the sea as the cliff erodes. Although a local landmark, it does not look quite so good close up. The tower is attractive but the living accommodation is not. Here seen at sunset, some of its less attractive features are softened by the evening light.
