Description

Castle Farm

Castle Farm, Calow, Derbyshire where my Great Grandmother was born. It was built in 1554 and still stands today. I visited it two years ago.

We are the current owners of Stanley cottage (formerly Castle Farm Cottage) the property on the right of the photo. We are trying to trace the history of the property. I wonder if you could tell us your relative's name and date of birth please? Also do you know the date of the photo?

I was pleased to hear from you. My ancestors lived there from the 1700's. They were named Fiddler and go back to 1720's. My Great Gran was Fiddler and married James Reddish and they had my grandmother Jane Reddish who was my Fathers Mother. I do have funeral cards and pictures of some of them. My Dad told me that the man in the picture was his Great Grandfather. I have lots of names of all the family's children. They had lots of course in those days. My whole family of cousins are into the research of our family and we have all spent lots of time on the research. I think the photo was taken around the 1850's.
