Description

Coffin Stone 1

This image refers directly to my image Coffin Stone 2. What looks like an innocent resting place for weary walkers is in fact a resting stone for coffins. This is on the 'Coffin Road' from Grasmere to Ambleside which runs along the lower levels of Nab Scar.

As you suggest most ramblers would look at this as a handy resting place( excuse the pun ), if only we knew more about the origins of the places and things around us. Nice one Dave , another little bit of knowledge.
