The Young Martyr at Cartmel

A modern tribute to those executed at Lancaster Castle in 1537 for resisting the closure of the priory during the dissolution of the monastries. William Marshall when he founded the Priory gave the alter to the people of the village and this act stopped Henry VIII from closing the priory.
