Exploring the most Picturesque & Historic parts of England
Just one of many designs of gate latch to be found around the Lakes. Must make a note to document the various designs on my next jaunt. This one specifically designed with horse riders in mind. The rider is able to hook the end of their crop into the loop and open the gate without having to dismount.

Never really thought about how many latch designs there are, but there must be quite a number.
Whatever the design - it does work well in black and white. Think that may be quite a mission documenting gate latches of Cumbria.
