Blackhall Rocks is a Local Nature Reserve and picnic area within Durham Heritage Coast and is UK Woodland Assurance Scheme certified. Part Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Area of Conservation.

The beach has dark stripes as the result of all the coal dust and small lumps tipped into the sea by overhead conveyor belt. It was often collected by men using push bikes and sacks. It looks better now though, thanks to Tom's viewpoint and framing. Very nice Tom.
