About Warwick Museum
The Warwickshire County Museum is housed in the Market Hall which was built in 1670. It was built on arches to allow for stalls to be under-cover but in the 19th century the arches were railed off and the area was used for the stocks. The stocks being used for punishing drunkards and were still in use as late as 1872. The stocks were on wheels and the culprit was made to pull them into the arches before being locked in them.
