About Shepperton

The charming village of Shepperton was once the haunt of legendary highwayman Dick Turpin who is said to have visited the village's 400 year hostelry - the atmospheric Anchor Hotel overlooking Church Square.

It is also the home of renowned Pinewood Studios whose unrivalled facilities are used for the production of important international films and television productions. Many famous stars have passed through the studio doors including Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, both are said to have also been frequent visitors to the village inns.

The River Thames flows through Shepperton, its banks provide a picturesque setting for mooring narrow boats and other river traffic. Interestingly, moored at Shepperton is a narrow boat offering bed and breakfast accommodation, in such an idyllic location they are probably almost always fully booked!

Church Square is a conservation area, here you will find some of Shepperton's most attractive properties and hotels, many have rear access to the river.

A calm rural atmosphere pervades the village, it a pleasant place to amble around, the local parish church dedicated to St.Nicholas is worth seeing, as are the various interesting properties of all periods dotted around the streets.

Perhaps though, Shepperton's special blessing is its setting on the banks of the Thames, for here there are wonderful riverside walks when you can explore the wildlife of the area and enjoy stunning riverscapes.

There are hotels, shops, inns and restaurants. A mainline railway gives speedy access to the great sights and sounds of London.
