Sir Walter Scott (Scottish lawyer, poet and novelist) 1771-1832 built Abbotsford House, and started the trend for the "Baronial" style of Scottish Country Houses. The armoury includes Rob Roy's sword and gun together with many other arms and armour. There is a fine library with more than 9000 books. Other noteworthy artifacts to be seen at Abbotsford House include a pocket book of Flora MacDonald, Napoleon's cloak brooch and a lock of Bonnie Prince Charlie's hair.
