About Delamere

The village of Delamere can be found in the midst of beautiful Cheshire countryside in an area of forests and rivers. It is perhaps best known as the home of the magnificent Delamere Forest, once the hunting ground of the Earl's of Chester. However, apart from the forest the area has much of interest being close to the River Weaver, the Trent and Mersey Canal, and to the west is Chester with its famous cathedral, the rivers Dee, Gowy and the Shropshire Union Canal.

There is the fascination of the Dee estuary with its RSPB reserve, and the Mersey with its historic docks and attractive riverside walks.

This is a region which bristles with history, where you can explore ancient salt works, or play a round of golf at the fringe of the Delamere Forest. It is well worth visiting, be to use as a base for investigating the wider Cheshire area or for a romantic weekend of peaceful relaxation.

Of interest in Delamere is St. Peters Church and its lovely memorial to the dead of World War I.

Delamere offers lovely walks in natural surroundings, and a short distance away there are opportunities for boating and fishing.
