Pictures of Pottona Historic Market Town in the county of Bedfordshire
About Potton
It is a sedate, pretty place with a pleasant town square dominated by the town's library building with its handsome clock face tower. The square has a number of colour washed buildings, some with shop fronts and others that are in domestic use or offices. Until the early 20th century Potton was home to a horse fair, a lively event which attracted visitors from all over the county and beyond. For anyone interested in church architecture, the 13th century parish church of St. Mary is well worth seeing. Amongst its many attractive features is a rod staircase. A short distance from the town the RSPB has their national headquarters, this is located in a glorious wooded landscape with nature trails through woods, hides for bird watching, and wildlife habitats.
