The Lake in the Cavern This is the third and deepest of the caverns at Carnglaze. The water here is very clear and the underwater lighting adds an ethereal feel to the underground excavation that was once a slate mine. ONE TOO MANY PERHAPS? Funny enough this was taken in the " Rum Store" , one of the caverns at Carnglaze. Carnglaze is an old slate mine now a touist attraction opened in the early 1970's, the cavern known as the Rum Store is so called as this is where during the second world war the Navy stored it's supply of rum here for safety . As well as being open to the public it is a venue for weddings and functions and also an underground concert hall - the acoustics being fantastic. As for what we see on the rock - well anything looks possible through the bottom of a glass !!! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
