Queen Victoria Statue Hull The statue of Queen Victoria in the middle of Queen Victoria Square in the centre of Hull with the City Hall behind. The inscription on the plinth reads 'Erected by public subscription to commemorate the reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria. Born 1819 Ascended to the throne 1837 Died 1901' Amazingly underneath the statue is the city centre public conveniences!!! Maritime Museum Hull The Maritime Museum situated on Queen Victoria Square in the city centre. Originally the Dock Offices of the Hull Dock Co which at one time controlled all the docks in Hull. The building was erected in 1872 and is now a grade II listed building. Angry Doors ! ! A building in the Humber Street area of the town brightened up by 'street artist'. My friend the 'spinner' This lady, Chan Brown, has been attending the Hull War Veterans weekend for several years. You can see one of my previous photos on the shelf behind her. She spins yarn from all sorts of animals. The bear she is holding was commissioned by a lady from a local village using the hair of her Labrador Retriever (I think!!) It is even quite poignant now because the dog had died recently, and the lady was coming to the show to collect the bear over the weekend. I took this picture and a couple of others in to Chan on the Sunday morning and the lady for the bear had not yet been so Chan said she would give her one of the pictures along with the bear. Wish I could have stayed all day to get them both together!! Spitfire 1 Spitfire at the East Park Veterans weekend. Every year at the end of July East Park in Hull is taken over by 're-enactors' and all sorts of other historical interest.
